Day 1 / Mountain Bike – Cooking Class – Homestay:
We welcome you at either the airport or the train station followed by an hour drive on an interoceanic route. After eating lunch in a small village called Florida Baja, we will discover the lake Laberinto on a pirogue, where depending on the weather, we observe many species of local birds. In the heart of the jungle, we arrive at Marina and Hilters house where we can take a refreshing shower in the nearby stream. With our hosts, we prepare a regional delicacy which we will eat together. We finish the day with a lesson on how to make our organique cocoa paste.
Day 2 / Reforestation – Trek – Caymans:
After breakfast, we go the the reforestation area to plant a tree as a souvenir of your visit and in an effort to further our project of reforestation. We then take a 4×4 for about 45 minutes to get the lake side where we can eat local dishes for lunch and refresh ourselves under an artificial waterfall. We then start on a trek of two hours in the heart of the jungle until we get to the bank of the Tambopata river where we spend the night in a lodge. In the evening, we take a pirogue out on the river looking for Caiman crocodiles.
Day 3 / Parrots Clay Lick – Trek – Refuge:
After breakfast, we cross the Tambopata river on a pirogue and walk for hour until we reach the parrots cliff. If the weather allows it, we can watch the different species of Aras parrots assembled together to eat argile in a fantastic show of sounds and colors.
We then return to eat lunch at the lodge. Afterwards, we make our way towards the shelter where we will stay for the night.
The shelter is situated in our 650 hectare private reserve.
Day 4 / Trek – Puerto Maldonado:
After breakfast at the shelter, we start a three hour long trek along footpaths into the deepest part of the forest. There, we will discover an incredible range of medicinal plants, thousand year old trees, mammals, monkeys, many species of birds, butterflies and insects, all in their natural habitat. We eat a lunch prepared by a local family by a lake, where we can relax and cool down under a small artificial waterfall.
After lunch, we head back to town by the same entry route in the direction of Puerto Maldonado.
Transportation, lodging (03 nights), activities as per itinerary, all meals.
Alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, phone calls.
Rubber Boots (up to 44).
In case of bad weather, we change the order of activities. The money earned is reinvested in our ecological and social programs.
Extra night “HOMESTAY”:
Instead of spending your last night in a hotel without any interest directly in the city of Puerto Maldonado, you can spend your night in a Homestay in our community “Florida Baja”, 47 km away from Puerto Maldonado.
The acommodation is basic but with a lot of confort, bed with moskito net, shower, toilet, electricity, tv, without internet.
This initiative was created with our French humanitarian association “km 47”.
