Reception at the airport or bus station. We travel one hour by the Interoceanic Highway.
Lunch at the Florida Baja community , then we ride our mountain bikes and take a dirt road to the Tambopata Trek reserve, where normally we can see monkeys, macaws, butterflies… The route takes 2 hours at soft rate, low difficulty.
Our 4×4 will support us. We arrive to the homestay, place where we can take a shower in the stream to cool off.
We will prepare our own organic cocoa paste. We will participate in a regional cooking class and taste it.
Day 2 / Reforestation – Trek – Caymans:
After an organic breakfast, we headed to the area for reforestation and we plant a native tree in memory of your visit, thus helping our reforestation program. After 45 minutes driving our 4×4 we will arrive to a small a lake for having lunch (regional dish) and we can take a bath in a small waterfall.
After two hours of hiking we arrived to the Tambopata river and we spend the night in a lodge.
In the evening we will look for caymans in the river.
Day 3 / Parrots Clay Lick – Trek – Refuge:
After breakfast we cross the Tambopata River by canoe and hike one hour to reach a macaw lick. If weather permits it, you will get the chance to observe macaws of different species, which come along in an amazing show of sounds and colours.
After lunch at the lodge, we will start our interpretive hike to our refuge for spending the night there, deep in the forest.
Day 4 / Trek – Puerto Maldonado:
After breakfast we start a 3 hours jungle hike along some trails that go deep into the forest through natural feeding mammals, where we will see medicinal plants, ancient trees, hear, smell and see mammals, monkeys, and variety of birds, butterflies and other insects in their natural inhabitat.
We will lunch a regional dish prepared by a family of the community and we can refresh and relax in a small waterfall. After lunch return to the city by the same way.
Transportation, lodging (03 nights), activities as per itinerary, all meals.
Alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, phone calls.
Rubber Boots (up to 44).
In case of bad weather, we change the order of activities. The money earned is reinvested in our ecological and social programs.
Extra night “HOMESTAY”:
Instead of spending your last night in a hotel without any interest directly in the city of Puerto Maldonado, you can spend your night in a Homestay in our community “Florida Baja”, 47 km away from Puerto Maldonado.
The acommodation is basic but with a lot of confort, bed with moskito net, shower, toilet, electricity, tv, without internet.
This initiative was created with our French humanitarian association “km 47”.
Thanks to our volunteers for their support and to our donors.
